Tobin Lush was born in Adelaide and grew up on his parent’s farm overlooking the Southern Ocean. He studied Fine Art at the North Adelaide School of Art and went on to an Arts Degree at Flinders University majoring in Film and Women’s Studies. In 1999 he moved to London and returned to Eden Hills in South Australia in 2005 where he currently lives with his wife and 3 children.

JG Ballad reminded us the ‘the suburbs dream of violence. Asleep in their drowsy villas, sheltered by benevolent shopping malls they wait patiently for their nightmares that will wake them into a more passionate world.’ We still processes that fear, that courage, but we can find ourselves living meekly.

"I see all art as a kind of revenge on circumstance. Sometimes the work is less directly related to the real world, but then paint is a skin and there’s always some kind of engagement with the nature of memory."

Lush is the founder and director of Rodeo — an integrated design studio and is a co-founder of Camino — not for profit tree planting platform.
